Erosion Prevention:  Wind and water often act with devastating effect on human life and property.  These effects can be delivered as suddenly as a hurricane, or with equal devastation over a period of time as tide, river current, or storm water runoff erode land and property.

ASR is experienced in working with civilian and government engineers on both small and large projects to ensure the best erosion control products are planned and installed.

Our primary objective is to meet the growing demand for cost effective shoreline erosion repair. Because of past
developers unrestricted dredging for fill to build upon, shoreline erosion has affected many developments,
homeowners associations, golf courses, and private residences throughout the southern United States.

The Florida Water Management Districts (FWMD) has "set the standard" regarding the installation of ALL methods of erosion repair. Studies have shown that the Geotec Tube system is the most cost effective long-term option accepted by the SFWMD. Having proven itself over many years, ASR has decided to focus primarily on the Geotec Tube system.

ASR has a working relationship with engineers from the Florida Water Management Districts through out the State of Florida. ASR values this relationship and will continue to meet or exceed their specs for the Geotec-Tube method of shoreline maintenance.

American Shoreline Restoration is proud to offer the Geotec Tube Erosion Control System. At 25% of the cost of conventional bulkheads or seawalls, the Geotec Tube is the most cost effective and environmentally responsible shore line erosion control system available.

Shoreline erosion is a serious issue in Florida and continues to grow worse due to poor lake development standards, hurricanes and heavy rain. Erosion problems are easily solved by installing the Geotec Tube erosion control system. Shoreline restoration is also easily achieved by the installation of the Geotec Tube erosion control system.

The Geotec Tube is constructed from the highest quality Polypropylene non-woven geotextile sewn together to form a custom diameter tube. The tube is interconnected along the waters edge, then a small sand pump is used to fill the tube with the same sand and organic material that has been eroding into the lake or canal. The final result is a long lasting, fully contained sand filter barrier that will stabilize the bank from erosion and filter rainwater and irrigation runoff.

The Geotec Tube erosion barrier can be installed on any shoreline contour or stacked pyramid fashion to create a more substantial barrier to protect against soil erosion during heavy rains. Once the Geotec Tube is sodded, the durability and life span is unlimited. Shoreline restoration is easy to obtain and erosion control has never been more simple.

Storm Water Management and Erosion Control

Everyone has probably heard of the phrase 'when it rains, it pours,' figuratively and non-figuratively speaking. We obviously know that rain is a necessity, but too much rain can lead to to soil erosion. In some severe cases, rain can cause sheet erosion which is caused by an unconfined flow of water running across a surface. The intensity of the rain fall determines how much water flow runs off. The amount of water that runs off is relevant to how much soil is removed, leading to erosion.

For many golf courses and lake management companies, storm water management is important for proper erosion control. For example, when constructing a new golf course on Bigwin Island in Canada, many environmental agencies and local residents expressed their concerns over the protection of shoreline around Bigwin Island. The developers had to undergo the challenge of finding a method of storm water management that would protect the shoreline from potential runoff from erosion during construction. Although only one hole would be near the lake at Bigwin Island, there were some elevation changes that pointed to the potential of silt from erosion to reach the lake. In this case, it was also necessary to develop a method for filtering storm water runoff before it reached the lake.

Erosion control limits the potential of silt to reaching the lake. Shoreline erosion is key since rain is unstoppable. Installing proper storm water drainage is important, but unfortunately, land/shoreline erosion is inevitable. For the development of a new golf course , a decision was made to sod all areas of primary rough on the course in order to reduce the overall areas exposed to potential erosion. While this is a good temporary method, the sod will eventually begin to erode and the land will undergo erosion as expected. The Geotec Tube is a great solution to prevent shoreline erosion and is not only eco-friendly and safe to the environment; it can be constructed in the desired grade to blend in with the natural surroundings. Thus, storm water management and erosion control are extremely important when planning the construction of golf courses and communities and other lake management concerns

    EROSION CONTROL NEWS:

    Lake Erosion Repair & Control

Erosion control is a concern across the world. Soil erosion has affected land all over the world. Erosion Control stops the shifting of soil particles due to devastating impacts of rainfall, wind and waves. Soil erosion is a natural process, but in many cases human activity drastically speeds up this process. After the soil particles have shifted, the creation of gullies, cracks and severe dryness begins.

Erosion control prevents loss of property and shoreline destruction which affects property value as well as many aspects of the ecosystem, affecting plants, flowers, vegetation and crops because the soil does not contain enough nutrients to help them grow healthily. Erosion restoration should begin with erosion control methods. Prevention methods should be determined by the depth and severity of soil erosion which has occurred.

Erosion control methods will help keep your soil healthier and more hospitable for plants and flowers. The best management practices in helping to promote erosion control are a physical, chemical, structural or managerial practice that prevents, reduces or treats contamination of water or which prevents or reduces soil erosion.

Erosion control management practices can be the most simple and effective measures that can be taken in order to retain sediments to the area of erosion. There are a few management practices that can help you protect and create an erosion barrier.

The Geotec Tube is constructed from the highest quality Polypropylene non-woven geometries which is sewn together to form a custom diameter tube. The geotec tube erosion barrier is interconnected along the waters edge, then a small sand pump is used to fill the tube with the same sand and organic material that has been eroding into the lake or canal. The final result is a long lasting, fully contained sand filter barrier that will stabilize the bank from erosion and filter rainwater and irrigation run off.

Many other management practices can be used in addition for maximized erosion control results . One example of an erosion control management practice is that of surface roughening, which will help reduce runoff velocity and allow for infiltration, sediment trapping, and supporting the establishment of vegetative cover.

Another method that is used in order to promote healthy erosion control is to spread a thick layer of mulch in the area in which erosion restoration is necessary. Mulch is is a group of organic and inorganic materials that prevents the movement of the soil by influence of the wind and rain, this can drastically help in erosion prevention.

Another tactic that can be very useful are the use of erosion blankets. Erosion control blankets are mats comprised of organic fibers or inorganic materials help by synthetic or biodegradable netting. These prevent erosion from exposed soils in channels on slopes, or as a wet weather measure.

Erosion control is the practice of preventing or controlling wind or water erosion in agriculture, land development and construction. This sometimes involves the creation of a physical barrier, such as vegetation or rock, to absorb some of the energy of the wind or water that is causing the erosion. Effective erosion controls are important techniques in preventing water pollution and soil loss. Erosion control may arise in natural areas, agricultural settings or urban environments, the latter of which is often characterized as storm water runoff driven.
